PlugGO to supply UK festival market with branded portable chargers

UK: Following market-leading success in Europe and the USA last year, PlugGO are bringing their revolutionary branded portable charging service to the UK festival market this summer, having already signed-up some of Britain’s most prominent major and independent festivals.

The Amsterdam-based company has appointed event technology specialist and Festival Awards founder Steve Jenner to set-up and lead its UK operations and to help drive festival client acquisition across Europe.

This summer sees PlugGO confirmed to provide the Official Phone Charging at many top festivals including Download, Creamfields, Secret Garden Party and Festival Number 6 in the UK; Tomorrowland, Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop in Belgium; TomorrowWorld, Bonnaroo and Electric Daisy Carnival in the USA; Lowlands, Pinkpop and Best Kept Secret in The Netherlands; Wacken, Splash! And Melt! In Germany, plus many more. The company are also servicing AC/DC’s Rock Or Bust World Tour.

The service uniquely enables festival-goers to buy or rent a pocket-sized battery device, branded to the festival, which they can swap for a fully-charged replacement whenever they need, ensuring they never need to worry about running out of power or being separated from their smartphone while it charges.

PlugGO have also secured a long-term technology partnership with Philips, allowing them to give customers an enhanced product for the 2015 season plus a two-year worldwide customer guarantee and new, festival-friendly features like a built-in LED torch.

Steve Jenner commented: “PlugGO not only adds huge value to the customer experience at festivals but also provides promoters with a significant new income stream. Furthermore, the service has solved a wider market problem by making uninterrupted smartphone power available to the masses in a highly convenient, take-away format. It is a very exciting development to be part of and the initial response from the UK industry, reflected in the calibre of events already signing-up with us, has been even more positive than we’d hoped. I’m thrilled to be onboard.”

David de Graaf, PlugGO’s Managing Partner added: “Whilst highly prized, the UK’s festival market is among the most mature and crowded in the world. So we knew we had to offer promoters and their audiences here significantly more value than they could get elsewhere, as a mere starting point. By refining our operation and product at super-high scale and collaborating with major partners like Philips, this is what PlugGO now delivers. It is an honour to be adding some of the UK’s world-leading festivals to our roster this summer and beyond.”
