Rolling Loud and Afro Nation festivals donate funds to Algarve Biomedical Center

PORTUGAL: Event Horizon, the promoter behind Rolling Loud Portugal and Afro Nation, has made a contribution to help fund new ventilation machines and self-protection materials for medical staff which will be used in hospitals across the Algarve, helping the local population combat the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Both festivals are still expecting to take place in July in Portimão, in the Algarve region of Southern Portugal.

The contribution of these funds is to be managed by the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), a consortium between the University of Algarve and the local public hospitals aiming to improve health and safety throughout the region. ABC has already closed deals with international suppliers and expects to have the medical devices available in the Algarve in the next few days. ABC has various teams on the ground developing multiple actions that include a call center, drive through COVID testing, strategic medical updating and local tourism support.

Obi Asika, Event Director of Event Horizon, commented: “Although our industry is going through difficult times, it is our social obligation to help the Algarve region and its population. We want to continue promoting our events in Portimão in July. If we all do our part, we will be able to overcome this difficult moment and restore confidence”.
