Roundhouse Rising unveils free-to-attend industry day

UK: Ahead of Afrikan Boy’s headline set on March 19, Roundhouse Rising will be hosting a free-to-attend industry day entitled ‘Getting Ahead In Music’.

Highlights include DJ Drop-in Sessions offering the opportunity to learn DJ basics on both CDJs and vinyl using Serato software. A Band Jam Taster guided tutorial will help those wishing to learn guitar, bass or drums, and a Songwriters’ Clinic will be available for those seeking expert advice to hone their skills. There will also be a Demo Surgery to learn how to improve the quality of demo recordings as well as a Spinnup Music Demo so attendees can learn how to get their music in front of the right people.

In addition the huge range of free workshops and tutorials, a range of panel discussions will also be available at £5 per session, including Meet The Managers – a panel dedicated to artist management. Meet The Promoters is for those interested in music event organisation, plus sessions dedicated to media and marketing with Build Your Own Press Kit and DIY Magazine’s Marketing Workshop.

Speaking about the event, Rising Festival Producer Lucy Scott and Head of Music Jane Beese, said: “We’re really looking forward to Getting Ahead In Music Day as part of this year’s Rising Festival. There are workshops, panel discussions with promoters, managers and funders which will be a real insight into the workings of the music business. There are also taster sessions run by organisations such as Spinnup and Ableton, and also demonstrations of songwriting workshops.
