NORWAY: From October 27 – 29, Insomnia Festival will run for the 15th time in Tromsø. As part of the We are Europe programme, the Norwegian event will invite Reworks Festival, Reworks Agora (Thessaloniki, Greece), Sónar and Sónar+D (Barcelona, Spain) to curate artists and panels that reflect their artistic and cultural values. Insomnia festival will be the closing event of We Are Europe’s first year.

The invited festivals will present acts that left a mark on their own programmes. On Thursday, Fantastikoi Hxoi, a re-edit project from Athens that draw material mainly from obscure Greek psych and folk tunes will open the Norwegian We are Europe offering.

On Friday, Spanish duo bRUNA & Wooky – key figures in Spanish electronic music and co-directors of Lapsus Records – will present their ‘Archives’ live performance with visual artist Alba G.

Ata Kak, one of the key performances of Sónar 2016 will deliver his strange mix of highlife and Western style rap. The Rattler Proxy, a Greek duo that played its first show at Reworks festival in 2011, and German techno artist Kassem Mosse – curated by Reworks Festival – will close the two stages.

On Saturday, a panel will approach We are Europe’s annual topic: cultural entrepreneurship. It will gather together entrepreneurs from Spain, Greece and Norway. Vassilis Haralambidis, Antònia Folguera, bRUNA, Wooky and Norwegian speakers will focus on links and similarity between practices from Southern and Northern Europe.

On Wednesday, before the opening of the event, Dirty Electronics will hold a workshop curated by Sónar, to build visual data by turning voice into code.
