UK: Event and ticketing outlet Skiddle is taking part in the ‘ultimate festival challenge’, visiting 10 music festivals in 48 hours to help raise £150,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The stunt will take place over the August Bank Holiday Weekend and has never been attempted in the UK before.

This feat of endurance will begin at Creamfields on Friday evening, before ending at Victorious Festival in Portsmouth 48 hours later. In between, Skiddle will be travelling the length and breadth of the country driving nearly 1,000 miles over a 15 hour period.

Richard Dyer, co-founder and Director of Skiddle, commented: “Festival season is a huge deal for Skiddle and our customers. This year, we have seen a 21% increase in ticket sales and our Festival Guide has been busier than ever. To celebrate the Great British Festival and a huge weekend of music, this year we wanted to do something special. We have combined our love of music festivals with a ridiculous feat of endurance – all in the name of raising money for an amazing cause.

“We can’t wait get on the road and visit some of the UK’s most exciting and eclectic festivals in this epic race against time. We don’t underestimate how tough it’s going to be – we’ll only have 2 / 3 hours maximum to make our mark at every festival: main stage appearances, interviews, selfies with headliners – the lot, but we’re up for the challenge and are really motivated to raise as much as we can for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Commenting on the challenge, Lisa Wild, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, Lancashire and Cumbria, said: “Skiddle never cease to amaze everyone at Macmillan and we are so grateful for the team going that extra mile for this 48 hour Festival Challenge. So far, the £100,000 they and their customers have raised has gone to support hundreds of people living with cancer and we cannot thank them enough. We would love people to get behind this special challenge and help smash another fantastic target.”

Festivals taking part in the 48 hour Festival Challenge, include: Creamfields (Warrington), South West Four (London), Victorious Festival (Portsmouth), Solfest (Cumbria), Lost Village (Lincolnshire), Moovin Festival (Stockport), Camper Calling (Warwickshire), Beermageddon Metal Festival (Worcestershire), A New Day Festival (Kent), Music on the Green (Kent).
