UK: Eventbrite, one of the world’s leading event technology and ticketing platforms, has released a brand new report summarising the results from a nationwide, representative survey looking at the going out habits of millennials. The study looks at the events scene in the UK and challenges associations of millennials as phone addicts who prefer the digital to the real world.

    Key themes from the survey:

The rise of the ’Sober Socialites’

Festival mad millennials call last orders on boozy pub culture. Wellness is in, alcohol is out – they’re simply looking for a wider range of experiences other than getting drunk. The typical millennial loves dancing, but hates hangovers.

    • They consume just five units of alcohol a week, and even festival-goers said they would spend their last tenner at a food truck rather than a bar.
    • 7 / 10 said they would rather brag about how long it’s been since they last drank alcohol, than how much they last drank.
    • Only 1 in 10 see getting drunk as cool. The rest see it as ‘pathetic’, ‘embarrassing’ or ‘belonging to an older generation’.
    • 71% would rather drink a revitalising smoothie after a night out at a festival rather than another alcoholic drink.

    Are we going ‘out out’?

What does the phrase mean to Millennials?

    • 1 in 2 said it means getting dressed up / making more of an effort.
    • For people in Scotland, going ‘out out’ also means ‘being with my best friends’.

    The People’s Choice Festival Awards

The survey also asked millennials what they thought of various festivals:

The coolest = Isle of Wight
    The edgiest = Download
The best for meeting attractive people = Isle of Wight
The best for looking good on social media = Glastonbury
For young people = T in the Park
For posh people = Port Elliot
    For mature people = WOMAD
For louts = Parklife, T in the Park
