The not-for-profit organisation The Power of Events Ltd was set up in June 2022 –
http://www.thepowerofevents.org/ – with the mission to set up a comms platform designed to showcase, value and respect the power of the UK events industry to those outside the industry whose influence might not otherwise be matched by their knowledge of its impact and value.

The platform will be launched on 16th February 2023 from 2pm-4pm with support from Here at Outernet in London, a brand-new live events space. This custom designed blank canvas is crafted to host creative and cultural events from end to end of the live events spectrum. The venue features unparalleled in-house technical equipment, including a 14-metre wide 6k upstage screen and has been designed with the quality of experience in mind.

Over the past 12 months, the core focus for The Power of Events Taskforce has been reaching out to all corners of the industry across seven core sectors, to maximise representation and inclusion. The response has been overwhelming and unprecedented – 100s of businesses have signed up as supporters, helping the start-up fund surpass £150k to date. January alone saw new supporters including Notting Hill Carnival, Harvey Goldsmith, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Black Deer Festival, Informa plc and EasyFairs. The Industry Community Partners now number over 70 organisations, with a broad representation from across the industry – and there are many more in the pipeline:

    ● 10 leading University Event Faculties from all Four Nations have joined as University Research partners.
    ● 12 of the leading media publications are signed up as Industry Media partners
    ● 24 Not-for-profits/certified B Corp businesses promoting best practices across DEI, sustainability, skills and welfare have signed up as Support Organisation partners
    ● 26 principal membership associations have been confirmed as Trade Association partners

Rick Stainton The Power of Events’ founder said: “We are really grateful for the collaboration and spirit of unity demonstrated over the last twelve months by countless event professionals across the seven sectors. The Power of Events team and Taskforce look forward to thanking all of our supporters and partners at the launch event. We will be showcasing such a long overdue and valuable resource for the current and future events professionals, as well as announcing the key objectives and focus for the coming year. This is just the start of a long journey of evolution to best showcase, respect and value the UK Events industry, working with and for the UK Events Professionals – everyone is invited to contribute – it’s got to be designed by the industry for the industry. “

This momentum is being driven by the simple mantra of Support, Share and Suggest, encouraging everyone to spread the word, introduce peers to the platform and provide feedback on the design and implementation of The Power Of Events platform.

The Power of Events, recently registered as a trademark, will be announcing its core objectives for 2023 and beyond. This will include more details on the Research/Insight web app it has been developing, by proposing a cross-Four Nations launch in the Spring of 2023.
Further details and sneak previews of the platform will be posted across social media in the lead-up to the launch – any organisation or event professional that has yet to become a supporter/partner is also welcome to contact The Power of Events team to attend the launch – hello@thepowerofevents.org
