PlayPass announces summer cashless partnerships

UK: PlayPass’ latest collaboration with PayPal saw the successful deployment of cashless payments at Amsterdam Open Air Festival, making it the second year the RFID specialist made the event fully cashless. This time round, visitors were able to connect their PayPal accounts to their festival wristbands before, during and after the festival in order to enjoy a number of enhanced features.

The deployment resulted in shorter queues at the entrance and bars during the festival, and PlayPass’ auto top-up feature allowed for a smooth and automatic refund of unspent credits after the festival – deposited directly into the customer’s PayPal account.

PlayPass has recently announced Standon Calling as the latest UK festival confirmed to implement its RFID cashless payments system this summer.

Steve Jenner, PlayPass’ UK Business Development Director, said: “Anyone that has followed the advancement of cashless and RFID in festivals will know that Standon Calling is the UK market’s pioneer – the leader in this field. That they have chosen to use our system this year is obviously a huge source of pride for us and we look forward to working with them to not only take cashless payments to new heights at Standon Calling, but to also advance our pledge to make this technology a standard in the UK festival industry this year, bringing us in line with many other parts of Europe.”

PlayPass will team up with PayPal again this weekend for Extrema Outdoor Netherlands.
