Wide Awake Announce King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard as 2024 Headliners

Wide Awake Festival, situated in Brockwell Park, has established itself as one of London’s most distinctive and well-curated festivals in recent years. Today they announce the incredible first act and headliner for their 2024 lineup in the form of Australian prog legends and enemies of headline brevity, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard who are set to bring their own unique flavour to the festival on 25th May.

Fresh from the announcement of their 25th Studio Album, ‘The Silver Cord’, the prolific Aussie rockers will be bringing their very own inimitable style to the eager Wide Awake crowd. With their recent live shows going down in history as some of the most exciting this year – the 2024 edition is already looking to be the best one yet.

Keith Miller, Wide Awake Co-Founder and Booker, said: “We’re so delighted to finally nail down King Gizz! It’ll be 10 years since I first saw them in the Shacklewell when they hit the main stage. We’ve tried to bring them over every year, and they were our most requested acts from our fans survey. I caught them up at Manchester Psych Fest in September and it was unreal. You will not be disappointed!”

Matching the excitement, King Gizzard frontman Stuart McKenzie said: “Fkn pumped to be back in London Town for all you beautiful people”

Wide Awake is an independent festival for music fans looking to discover something different. It aims to showcase some of the best up-and-coming talent around; expect leftfield Indie, Post Punk, Electronica, Techno and more across a line-up you won’t find anywhere in London.

The festival prides itself with line-ups that have an equal gender split and 2023 saw it work further on a sustainable ‘Positive Policy’, which was set up to change the way live music events affect the planet.

With social, cultural and environmental awareness being key to the very make up of Wide Awake, the festival itself is a party for those that want not only the best live acts but also want to encourage change.

With its renowned programme of leftfield indie, post punk, electronica and techno, Wide Awake 2023 set the bar high with a stellar lineup including Caroline Polachek, Shygirl, Daniel Avery (Live), Coucou Chloe, Blondeshell, Enumclaw, Jockstrap, Joy Orbison, Molchat Doma, Oneohtrix Point Never, Optimo (Espacio), The Bug Club, The Underground Youth, VTSS, Osees, Gilla Band and more.

It’s a tough act to follow, but with a number of lineup coups already under its belt, Wide Awake 2024 is shaping up to be another phenomenal year for one of London’s finest festivals.

Wide Awake is brought to you by Bad Vibrations, LNZRT and the crew behind MOTH Club and The Shacklewell Arms.
