Opening Weekend Artists Announced For La Linea

La Yegros - by Landry

Making a much anticipated return to the capital from April 12th 2024, La Linea – The London Latin Music Festival, described by Time Out magazine as “one of the world’s most eclectic celebrations of Latin music”, has announced the first acts performing at next year’s event.

Bringing together the very best international Latin stars from across the globe as well as homegrown talent from the UK’s vibrant scene, La Linea 2024 will launch with a special performance at the Barbican from multi Grammy award winning Mexican-American singer-songwriter and one of the most influential artists in Latin America Lila Downs. Known for her colourful and consummate stage presence, Downs brings her unique approach of mixing jazz, hip-hop, boleros with North American folk music, corridos and cumbia to the capital on Friday 12th April.

Norteño group Los Tigres del Norte, who’ve sold more than 30 million albums and are the only Mexican group to have won seven Grammy awards and twelve Latin Grammys, are set to light up London’s Eventim Apollo on Sunday 14th April with their first ever UK show, whilst Argentinian Nu Cumbia singer-songwriter La Yegros, described by The Guardian as the “queen of the scene” with a new album coming in February, will descend on the Jazz Café on Tuesday 16th April with a brand new high energy show combining electronica and psychedelic sounds with musical traditions from Argentinian culture and rural South America.

Following a sold-out performance in April 2022, pioneering French-Chilean vocalist Ana Tijoux, whose sound blends politically charged lyrics with hip-hop, Latin pop and R&B, makes a welcome return to the festival with a concert at the Village Underground on Saturday 13th April showcasing her new album.

Additional names will be announced in due course. Tickets are on sale from 10am on Friday 10 November www.lalineafestival.com.

This, the twenty-fourth edition of La Linea will be the last to be led by its founding Director Andy Wood.

Created in 2001 by Como No, the UK’s main producer of live events from Latin America, to showcase the Latin contribution to the wider musical world and to celebrate new artists, new collaborations and new projects, La Linea has built a global reputation for bringing together a host of outstanding Latin music artists in London every April.

La Linea 24 is supported by the Arts Council England as part of its support for Como No as an Arts Council of England National Portfolio Organisation.
