Festival Republic Relaunches ReBalance for 2024

Re-launching for 2024, ReBalance is the groundbreaking initiative from Festival Republic, providing opportunities to women and gender-expansive artists throughout the U.K., both on stage and in the studio. Today, six up-and-coming acts have been announced to participate in the revamped programme.

ReBalance is a practical, pro-active development programme, to address some of the challenges along the new music pipeline journey, while providing crucial, tangible support to emerging talent. Each participant will receive five days of studio time to record, mix and complete a project, as well as bespoke support in the form of mentorship and educational days with industry leaders, in both London and Manchester. This will culminate in a showcase at the end of the year, with each artist also receiving a guaranteed slot at a Festival Republic event in 2025.

Chosen by a panel of industry professionals, six artists: Mary O’Donnell, Sprout, Bebeluna, samxemma, cruush and Red Ivory will be paired with a carefully chosen producer and studio for their project, plus invaluable mentoring from some of the industry’s most sought-after voices. Via practical education days, they’ll also gain access to the latest industry insights and key experience behind the scenes. Each recording session will be led and/or assisted by a woman or gender-expansive professional, fostering an inclusive environment in which all artists can thrive, while simultaneously providing further production credits for those behind the desk.

Festival Republic MD, Melvin Benn said:“I first started ReBalance in 2017 and enjoyed three successful years. We made a genuine positive impact on the careers of those involved, before it was unfortunately paused due to Covid-19. Whilst some progress has been made since, I’m pleased to announce the relaunch of the initiative. We’ll be investing in emerging artists, offering practical support at a pivotal stage in their careers. This includes providing them with tools, connections and a commitment to a festival booking at one of our events.”
