Tremor festival, Portugal’s most cherished avant-garde music adventure returns to the São Miguel Island 8th–12th April 2025 with another exciting lineup of trailblazing artists. Set in the misty and mysterious Azorean archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic, Tremor seamlessly blends experimental music, visual art and nature in a setting unlike any other.

Among the first wave of acts is rising Portuguese star and Music Moves Europe Award nominee Ana Lua Caiano, returning to Tremor with her eclectic compositions weaving forgotten traditions with modern sounds. Using synthesizers, beat machines and everyday sounds, Caiano crafts layered audio landscapes in real time, bridging past and present. Romeu Bairos, whose Eurovision performance captured the national attention, is another artist reimagining Portugal’s music heritage. His upcoming debut album promises a blend of Azorean musical traditions and contemporary styles.

Highlighting Tremor’s reputation for bringing rare delights to its impeccable curation is the addition of José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience. This tribute band, formed by musicians from Porto’s underground and experimental music scene, is dedicated to celebrating the repertoire, cultural legacy and spirit of the 1980s cult pop icon José Pinhal, whose music has sparked a resurgence of pride in traditional Portuguese pop culture.

Looking further afield, Kinshasa’s Fulu Miziki are set to bring their eco-conscious Afro-futurist sound to the Azores. This radical Congolese collective, known for crafting instruments and costumes from recycled materials, merges activism with avant-garde performance, promoting sustainability and cultural pride through powerful, visually striking live shows. Meanwhile, Brazilian DJ Giovanna promises to electrify the dancefloor with her signature mix of tribal house and Brazilian funk, bringing the energy of Porto’s 𝙁𝙔𝙇𝙃𝘼𝙎 𝘿𝙊 𝘿𝙍𝘼𝙂𝘼𝙊 party to the island.

Finally, Nordic experimental trio FIRE! will ignite the proceedings, blending free jazz, psychedelic rock and noise in hypnotic, improvisational performances. Known for their bold collaborations and genre-defying sound, FIRE! are sure to deliver a blazing, unforgettable set.

Tremor 2025’s first wave sets the tone for a truly extraordinary celebration of music, culture and sustainability, offering a transformative festival experience in one of the world’s most captivating locations.
