Ahead of its 2 Year anniversary and at the end of the first full year of operation, The Power of Events not for profit organisation has held its first Advisory Board meeting on Thursday 28th November. The extended group of senior leaders invited to join the Advisory Board represent the broadest ever collaborative from across the UK events industry.
“We’ve quite deliberately invited the most unique range of event leaders as possible from across the 7 sectors, the venues and supplier services base, in an attempt to achieve the most inclusive representation of our industry as possible around the table.” explained Rick Stainton, founder of The Power of Events.
He added “In developing a showcase for everyone working in or aspiring to learn more about the UK event industry, the mission has always been driven by listening to what people from the industry have suggested. The new Advisory Board brings together a huge amount of experience and expertise to deploy the shaping of long-term strategic plans.”
The Power of Events originally at launch relied on Action Groups and a Taskforce to gather suggestions for projects and initiatives. The Event Industry Insight App, Careers Hub on their main platform and the Schools Engagement Programme were all developed from suggestions shared by these groups.
“Our aim is to now evolve this input and industry feedback from the Advisory Board to develop our mission and continue to focus on the best way of showcasing the UK events industry – always designed by the industry for the industry” The Power of Events Director Simon Hughes commented. “We now have online Open Taskforce meetings too, which anyone working in the industry can join and contribute to. The whole team have been really delighted by the depth of support that we’ve received, both in the Open Taskforce meetings and with the new Advisory Board. We’ll be posting details of the Advisory Board onto the main platform early in 2025 and it will continue to grow with new members to keep it dynamic and relevant to our ever changing work.”
