Ginger Owl Productions has released a whitepaper to help event organisers understand the implications of Martyn’s Law, entitled Accreditation Systems & Martyn’s Law: Practical Considerations for the UK Events Sector.

With Royal Assent granted to the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 in April 2025, the industry is now approaching the halfway point of a 24 month implementation period.

Full official guidance has not yet been released, but Ginger Owl Productions has used its team’s extensive experience to produce the whitepaper to help the industry start its readiness journey now.

Ginger Owl co-founder Julie Chennells said: “Martyn’s Law represents the most significant change to event security legislation in a generation. For event organisers, understanding how it affects both your planning and live operations is crucial.”

    The whitepaper covers:

    • The UK festival and live events landscape
    • An overview of Martyn’s Law itself including the tiered approach
    • The role accreditation systems play in helping organisers meet their obligations
    • Gaps and challenges organisers are likely to face
    • Practical considerations for implementation
    • Guidance on risk, assurance and accountability

Central to Ginger Owl Productions’ findings is the relationship between accreditation, scanning and security. The whitepaper explains how accreditation systems must evolve from an operational department into an active part of an event’s security and response plans.

It also points to accreditation technology as a practical route to compliance, with platforms such as Ginger Owl’s own GOAllAreas system able to provide event control teams with a real-time view of everyone on site.

The modular platform covers everything from pass printing and RFID scanning to catering management, health and safety inductions and post-event reporting.

The whitepaper is available to download here.
