Mighty Hoopla’s Malta festival has been cancelled due to airline industry disruption and rising costs amid the jet fuel crisis.
In a statement posted to Instagram, the festival said it had been “in contact with airlines connected to Malta to understand the likely impact [of the jet fuel crisis]. We have been advised that fewer flights will be scheduled and that prices will likely go up. This leaves us in a very different position to when we first launched the event.“
The Mighty Hoopla team added that the decision “has not been taken lightly,” and that all those who had purchased tickets will be given a full refund.
The four-day festival launched in 2025 and was set to welcome Sugababes, Beth Ditto, Liberty X and more.
The cancellation of Mighty Hoopla Malta is the latest in a growing list of festivals being pulled in 2026. Norfolk’s Red Rooster festival, originally set to take place 28–30 May, was cancelled due to rising costs, while Hardwick Festival (Stockton-on-Tees), Gone Wild (Exeter) and Live at Leeds In the Park and In the City have all decided to take a break for 2026.
