After its debut in 2025, music showcase SQUARE will return to Portugal in January 2027.

SQUARE will take place across four cities in northern Portugal, Braga, Guimarães, Famalicão and new for 2027, Viana do Castelo, welcoming artists, labels, festival and promoters from across the Atlantic.

According to the festival the programme will combine live shows, talks and networking “while also encouraging audiences and delegates to engage with the region’s historical, cultural and natural landscapes.”

The organisers describe the showcase as a way to prioritise human connection against the backdrop of an industry that feels increasingly focussed on algorithms.

Nuno Gouveia, Managing Director of Faz Cultura, Braga City Council says, “SQUARE has established itself as an innovative and strategic project for Braga, creating meaningful connections between territories, artists and music professionals.

As part of the legacy of Braga 25, it reinforces the city’s position as a hub for cultural creation, exchange and dynamism, celebrating music and the wider creative potential of the Atlantic-facing regions. At the same time, the project strengthens Braga’s commitment to collaboration with neighbouring territories while deepening its international reach, opening the city to new connections, audiences and opportunities.”
