Superstruct Entertainment has said it is expanding its partnership with the workplace mental health organisation OpenUp to provide support across Superstruct’s more than 80 festival portfolio through the summer.

OpenUp provides free, confidential access to psychologists and wellbeing experts for performing artists and others in the industry.

Superstruct says the partnership will give artists access to certified psychologists and lifestyle experts through OpenUp’s digital platform. This, says Superstruct, will support artists managing performance anxiety, burnout and wider pressures that may come with live performance.

Alex Mahon, CEO at Superstruct Entertainment, said: “Festivals are ultimately about people. They create connection, community and shared experiences that matter enormously to audiences, and none of that happens without artists.”

We recognise that wellbeing matters both on and off stage, which is why we are extending our partnership with OpenUp to support not just our teams, but also the artists who bring our festivals to life. Through this pilot, artists performing at our events will have direct, confidential access to professional support, whether they are dealing with performance pressure, exhaustion or the wider demands of life on the road.”

There is still much more the industry can do in this area, but we hope this is a positive step towards making support easier to access for the people at the heart of live entertainment.”

Amanda Singer, Artist Booking Coordinator at Superstruct Entertainment, said: “Behind any performance, there could be an artist navigating real pressures away from the spotlight.

Too often, the culture of this industry has meant pushing through in silence, and that can take a toll on the artists who turn a lineup into something audiences remember. Superstruct’s new partnership with OpenUp puts meaningful support in place for artists playing our events this summer.”

Talissa Buhl, Artist Booking Coordination and Insights Manager at Superstruct Entertainment, added: “Supporting artists must extend beyond the stage and we hope this pilot is a positive step in that direction. The show must go on, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of an artist’s wellbeing.”
