The long-running music festival Solfest has announced it has entered administration.
Held at the North Lakes Country Park, near Silloth in Cumbria, the festival has ran for more than 20 years. In its time, it has welcomed the likes of De La Soul, The Libertines, Orbital, The Charlatans and more.
In a statement shared to Instagram, the festival said its decision “follows a series of significant challenges, many of which were outside the control of the festival team.” This includes financial damage caused by bad weather in the run-up to and during its 2024 event, alongside “wider pressures facing the live events industry, including rising infrastructure, production, staffing and safety costs, alongside declining ticket sales linked to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.“
“The organisers would like to sincerely apologise to everyone affected by this decision, including ticket-holders, artists, traders, suppliers, staff, volunteers and the local community. This has not been an easy decision, and it is deeply regretted,” the festival added.
