Organisers of Gateways Festival, due to take place on 23rd & 24th July today issued a statement that they have been forced to cancel this year due to their staging supplier, Staged UK, ceasing trading after taking full payment. With several other companies reporting losses due to the cessation by Staged UK (a trading name of 1209 Ltd) it seems that the effects will be felt by more than just Gateways at a time when all are struggling to rebuild after the Covid crisis.; one supplier is reporting being £30,000 out of pocket. The Home Affairs Committee publishes the Government’s response to its report on spiking. The report warned that spiking would remain an invisible crime unless more was done to improve awareness and support victims. It found there was insufficient data to provide a clear picture of its true extent and the motives behind it. The Committee called on the Government to do more to support victims by removing barriers to reporting and providing long-term physical and emotional support.
